Casey Chow (he/him), MA, LMFT (OR), LMHC (WA)

Hello, Casey here!

As someone who has experienced the impact of mental health challenges firsthand, I cannot emphasize enough the significance of fostering open and meaningful conversations about this topic.

I am a second-generation Asian-American born to immigrant parents. My cultural identity, influenced by the Philippines, China, and the San Francisco Bay Area, is a mix of diversity and complexity. Yet, in this mix, I've faced contrasting views on mental health in my upbringing, or rather, a lack of discussion on the topic.

Within our sessions, I hope to support change by acknowledging the diverse range of experiences and perspectives we all bring to the table. I believe that by overcoming stigma and fostering empathy, we can create a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

Areas of Focus: Anxiety, Depression, Cultural identity, Couple’s communication (Relationship & Sex), Grief & Life transitions.

Populations: Asian-Americans, People of Color, LGBTQIA+, New to Counseling.

Training/Workshops Completed: Gottman Method Level 1, EFT Externship 2021, Sex Therapy 101 & 201, Understanding OCD Subtypes

Questions you might have for me

And of course, if I missed anything you can always contact me.

  • All sessions will be conducted over teletherapy (video or phone).

This allows more flexibility to your schedule and location so there’s no need to come into an office (sessions can be anywhere between Washington & Oregon State).

I understand that in-person sessions may be preferred, and I hope to be able to provide that in the future.

  • In the more recent decade, therapy has been even more normalized for people to explore. Not only when there are moments of crisis, but also when there are questions on identity, self-growth, or even desire to establish effective communication.

Yes, people can go into therapy when there are high levels of anxiety or depression symptoms, but people can also explore therapy options when starting a new relationship, changing careers, or even just curiosity on how to better build friendships and relationships around us.

Finding a good fit between therapist and client is an important factor in the efficacy of the therapy process. If you’d like a space dedicated to you to explore life without judgment, as well as not needing to hold space for others during the time, therapy may be a space for you.

  • For the most part, the first session will be an “intake session” where you and I will go over your intake form together and explore goals, present factors, and your history to help establish the foundation of the work together.
After discussing potential goals and ways you’d like support in the therapy space, with additional time, we will dive into what brings you into therapy.

  • Clients come to me with experiences in trauma, grief, marital communication, general anxiety, and cultural and self-identity issues/exploration.

Areas of focus: Anxiety, Depression, Cultural Identity, Couple’s Communication (Relationship & Sex), Grief & Life transitions.

  • Effects of therapy vary person to person. Depending on goals and expectations, there may be a wide range of the efficacy of therapy. I will be sure to check-in with you during our sessions to see if you feel like you are finding what you are looking for, as well as empowering you to voice any concerns or change of direction during the sessions together. I always appreciate feedback and would like to have open dialogue with you!

  • I am currently using a HIPAA compliant encrypted software called “SimplePractice” for online therapy. Though I do take progress notes, the notes are mainly reserved for yourself and will not be shared with anyone unless required by law. With anything online, there may be understandable concerns of confidentiality being breached if you are having your session in a public space, or a space where family or friends can hear. I encourage clients to find private spaces with secure internet access for video sessions.

As a mandated reporter for the state of Oregon & Washington, I am required to report suspected abuse or neglect to vulnerable populations, or if there are active plans of harm to yourself or others. These are the exceptions to confidentiality, and I am more than happy to discuss with you first.

  • I am a licensed Marriage & Family therapist (LMFT) in Oregon and licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington.

I am only able to see clients who are physically within either state due to licensure laws.

  • My practice uses “SimplePractice” which allows you to schedule your own sessions 24 hours in advance.

My cancellation policy is also 24 hours in advance, if a client cancels past that time or does not make it to session, a full charge will occur.

Understanding events may come up unexpectedly, so please be sure to contact me as soon as available, and we can discuss further.

  • Individual Standard Sessions (50mins for $110)
    Couple’s Standard Sessions
    (60mins for $150 or 90mins for $190)

I do not accept insurance, I am only able to accept cash pay at this time with all major credit / debit card companies through SimplePractice/Stripe. I also offer Superbills for accepted insurance providers.
